In the past, I have seen some kooky stories about Home Owners Associations run amok. Typically, these stories are generated by disputes over garden gnomes or flag displays; occasionally someone decides not to water or mow their lawn. Say what you will but as kooky as those things seem, there is often room for debate about those types of cases.
However, this morning I read a story, by Bill Hutchinson, in the Manatee Herald-Tribune that has taken HOA dictatorships to a whole new level. This is by far the most egregious and flagrant act of HOA totalitarianism that I have ever encountered. On this there can be no debate.
Kamel Zaki, is being fined $100 per day and is at risk of loosing his home because his HOA wants to snuff-out his Freedom of Speech. You’re probably thinking that this is some kind of joke; these kinds of things don’t happen in

Contrast in journalism - Glenn Beck interviews Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Filed Under War & Terrorism, HERO, Politics | Leave a Comment
I got quite a bit of response to the ‘Voice of Courage’ article. Some people focused on Ali and others focused on Avi. I think Avi Lewis’ performance, during his interview with Ayaan Ali, has demonstrated we know everything we need to about him. Anyway, I want to provide some additional information about Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Glenn Beck interviewed Ali on his -believe it or not- CNN hosted show. Hat tip to Jeff @ Politix for reminding me about the interview. Everyone in America should hear what this lady has to say and it is my pleasure to help amplify her message.

Nothing represents more the principal behind this site than the words spoken most recently by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Her voice, poise and courage are precisely why I created this Beautiful Rants. Her words are elegant, eloquent and devastating.
Ali was recently interviewed by Avi Lewis, on his show ‘On the Map with Avi Lewis’ which is a daily international “news analysis” show in Canada. Avi Lewis is considered “impartial” and “middle-of-the-road” in Canada. You be the judge.
If you’ve never seen or heard of Ayaan Hirsi Ali don’t be surprised; she sort of undermines the whole “Religion of Peace” agenda our media is always pushing. Here is some background info on her. Read more

Jim Bunning, Republican Senator for Kentucky, didn’t pull any punches last night during an Democratic all-night attempt to declare the war lost. House Majority Leader Harry Reid organized the media stunt to draw attention to the two opposing view; liberal Democrats want America to loose the war and Republicans want America to win it.
The Democratic proposal, by Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Jack Reed, D-R.I., would have required reductions in troops within 120 days and the pullout would have had to been complete by April 30, 2008. The proposal was defeated 52-47 and fell short of the 60 votes needed.
Senator Bunning’s comments can be seen here or can be read in the entirety by clicking more below.

Wake Up - There’s A War Going On

As usual, Christopher Hitchens is spot on with his insightful and biting commentary. It sounds like his patience is wearing thin and he isn’t pulling any punches in his latest analysis of the Glasgow airport and London car-bomb plots.
At one point Hitchens states, “Liberal reluctance to confront this sheer horror is the result, I think, of a deep reticence about some furtive concept of “race.” It is subconsciously assumed that a critique of political Islam is an attack on people with brown skins.” He later added, “The least we can do, confronted by such radical evil, is to look it in the eye (something it strives to avoid) and call it by its right name.” Read more

Paris No More
Filed Under Obvious | Leave a Comment
We were all wondering when it would happen. At least for one reporter, the constant and relentless pounding of the Paris Hilton tripe which qualifies as modern day “Breaking News”, has finally reached its saturation point.
Mika Brzezinski, from MSNBC, finally had enough yesterday. On live air, she rebelled against the show’s producers by refusing to read a lead story about Paris Hilton and at one point attempted to set fire to paper which contained the story. After another reporter managed to wrestle the story away she calmed somewhat and settled for simply shredding the document.

Not Everyone Is Waiting In Line For An iPhone

Today’s hero is an anonymous 22 year old man with a Mohawk haircut. He had the guts to speak his mind to the Mayor of Philadelphia. It seems that Mayor John Street had joined the mass of kooks that were waiting in line for days on end for an opportunity to purchase an iPhone. It seems this didn’t sit well with the 22 year hero, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, so he spoke his mind and asked the Mayor “How can you sit here with 200 murders in the city already?” Street, apparently dumbfounded, could only say: “I’m doing my job,” the newspaper said.
The Mayor left the line a short while later, apparently because he was embarrassed about the fact that the city actually did in fact have more than 200 murders already this year.
It doesn’t take much to make a difference. Our society has grown so apathetic that we forget it is our obligation to speak out when we see crap like this. Congratulations unknown Mohawk dude - you’re a good citizen!
Fox News has the story here.

Clarification from the Queen of Rant
Filed Under Politics | Leave a Comment
I struggled with whether to post this one or not but ultimately I think it needs to be heard. There are few people in our pop-media culture that are more polarizing than Ann Coulter. The thing is, she is deliberately abrasive and I think I understand why. She says such outrageous things because: Read more
